Nepathya all set to launch 10th album with folk taste from east Nepal hills

KATHMANDU: Popular Nepali folk rock band Nepathya is about to hit the market with its 10th album, including folk tunes collected from across Nepal and few poems from renowned poets as well.

Before that, the band is making a formal release of one of their folk numbers prepared on folk tunes collected from eastern Nepal.

The tune known as Hakpare was collected by Nepathya front man Amrit Gurung from a local traditional folk musician, Dille Damai of Chainpur, Sankhuwasabha, according to a statement issued by Nepa~laya.

Gurung had travelled to eastern hills of Kavre, Sindhuli, Ramechap, Okhaldunga, Khotang, Bhojpur, Terhathum and Dhankuta district before meeting Damai, according to the statement.

“With modern influence penetrating the villages, folk culture is at the verge of extinction," the statement quoted Gurung as saying, "But I am fortunate to still witness them in raw format, when I travel to some remote untouched settlements.”
