Neupane mesmerises all

KATHMANDU:

She has been learning sarod for last 14 years from veteran sarod player Mohan Sunder Shrestha and Suresh Raj Bajracharya, and Rupa Neupane gave her first solo performance ‘Sarod sanga ek sanjh’ at Gurukul on November 27. It was not only an evening of mesmerising classical music but also for women empowerment, as it was the first solo sarod performance by a female musician.

At the performance, Dr Dhurbesh Chandra Regmi shared his views on how music has been a medium to bring about women empowerment.

Before starting her performance, Neupane remembered and thanked late Atul Gautam for encouraging her to play music. Accompanied by Pandit Homnath Upadhya on tabla and Neera Ranabhat and Romu Neupane on tanpura, Neupane started her performance with Tribani Raag. Highly appreciated by the music lovers present at the event, she continued with Raag Tilak Kamat composed by Dr Regmi. She ended the event with the well known Deurali ukali kate ra and Saghuri bari ni ho.

The event was organised by World Action Group.
