Kathmandu:
A Hollywood movie made way back in 1964 earned lots of accolades and is still watched by everyone at least once in their lifetime even today. The movie is about a girl who tries to bring back music into people’s lives. You guessed its name, yes, it is ‘Sound of Music’ we are speaking about.
“Samsung Nepali Tara, I believe is doing the same. Nepali music which had gone astray for a while is coming back to every household since Samsung Nepali Tara has started,” says Brazesh Khanal. The programme, which would aim to hunt the best of talents who would otherwise have remained behind the curtains for the lack of one such platform, is Brazesh Khanal’s brainchild. Produced by Neel Barahi Films and directed by Rajendra Shalav, Nepali Tara is aired every Saturday on Nepal Television at 7:20 pm. The official media for the event is Annapurna Post.
It is indeed a matter of pride for organisers to see such an overwhelming response for the audition while scrutinising thousands of aspiring singers. The programme has caught the attention of every household where family members gather together on weekends in front of their TV set so as not to miss even a single episode of it. Shalav says, “As the competition tightens, singers, too, definitely have to put in more endeavour, which ultimately means good songs, good music and a great show.”
One of the highlights of the show is the use of state-of-the-art equipment for shooting, thereby making it stand out as far as programmes aired on the Nepali screen are concerned.
