StanChart walkathon to prevent avoidable blindness

KATHMANDU: Walking on a fine morning is a fun-filled activity. Such walks help one to achieve physical fitness, and if the walk is organised with an aim to join hands for a noble cause, then the walk becomes worth more than one’s own physical well-being. This year too Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) is organising their yearly walkathon ‘Standard Chartered Nepal Walkathon 2015’ on November 28.

A part of StanChart Nepal Community Partnership Forum, the walkathon is being held to raise funds for the bank’s corporate social initiatives — Seeing is Believing and other local initiatives. Along with the bank employees, clients and other stakeholders, the walkathon will take the route from Lazimpat, Durbargmarg, Bhadrakali, Sahid Gate, Tripureshwor, Maitighar and Baneshwor ending at its Head Office at Baneshwor.

“This year it is a reverse route as construction is going on at our branch in Lazimpat. The area will be congested there,” informed Diwakar Poudel, Head of Brand, Marketing and Corporate Affairs at SCB.

The event will also be enriched with the accompaniment of various musical instruments, mascots and

a variety of cultural events. “Despite the present difficulties, we are organising this event as people will benefit as we are collecting funds for our initiative to prevent avoidable blindness in areas around the country,” Poudel added.
