One would hardly find a person who does not love to listen to music. In honour of the music

great who give us the gift of melodious numbers,

Image Channel organised the 8th Tuborg Image Award amidst a glittering function at the Birendra International Convention Centre on June 10.

Not only those involved in the music industry, the who’s who of the cine world, corporate circle and many well known media persons attended the event. The red carpet had been rolled out to welcome the celebrities.

The show was telecast live to over 70 nations via Image Channel and aired to aired to half of the country through Image FM 97.9.

The award categories were so extensive that not a single sector was left out. In 25 different categories, 125 were nominated. RK Manandhar, president, Image Channel said, “All the nominees are also winners, but since someone has to win, the winners were decided according to listeners’ vote.”

The Image Lifetime Achievement Award was awarded to Bhakta Raj Acharya for his contribution to music of genres for the last 16 years.

Another category was the Image Top Five Agency Award that went to Echo Advertising,

Key Advertising, Thomson Nepal, Welcome Advertising and Prisma Advertising.

A new category was added this year Best song in Tamang language.

With such an extensive awardee list and various performances by different artistes, it took more than five hours to reach the final awardee on the list. A number of singers and bands performed their popular tracks and some even took the opportunity to introduce their new song or upcoming album. The nation’s nightingale late Tara Devi was also remembered in some of their performances

The winners were picked by popular poll via print media, SMS and Internet.

Gorkha Brewery and Himalayan Snax and Noodles were each awarded

with a citation for their contribution. The 8th Annual Tuborg Image Award was co-sponsored by Shaka Laka Boom and Jolly.
