Do you like belly dance? Exotic dishes? Then ‘Arabian Nights’ on New Year’s Eve, April 12 at Hotel De’L Annapurna, Durbar Marg is not to be missed. The Himalayan Times, Taj Palace Dubai, Gulf Air, Seagram’s Chivas Regal and Party support it. Professional belly dancer Angela all the way from Dubai is the main highlight of the evening. And music by DJ Shail will tempt you to dance till the wee hours. And our very own Nalina Chitrakar will be performing as well.

The event promises perfect Arabian cuisine and unlimited range of beverages including world famous brands like ‘Chivas Regal’, ‘Absolute Vodka’, ‘Havana Rum’ and Australian wines ‘Jacob Creeps’.

This special night features a lavish spread of quintessential Arabian delicacies prepared by the master chefs Ashraf Adul Ashoush and Chef Ibrhaim Abu Zarqa Ahmad from Dubai. Chef Ahsraf is an Egyptian and he is with the Taj Palace Dubai. Chef Ibrhaim is a very talented young Jordanian Arabic pastry chef. His specialities are exquisite traditional desserts from this region of the Middle East. Both the chefs are in Nepal for the first time. They say that Arabian cuisine is non-spicy and similar to Turkish food. “We do not use too many ‘masalas’ but we do use lots of sauce. We are giving the best cuisine of Arabia and we are sure people will love each bite.”

The menu is based on traditional Middle Eastern cuisine; items from Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan and the Emirates. One can also enjoy Nepali cuisines. The menu comprises ranges of cold mezze (starters) buffet like Hummous, Moutabel, Babaganuch, Tabouleh, wine leaves, Lebneh with mint, to name few. In soups, it is lentil Arabic soup served with dates and fresh lemon. In the hot buffet, the main course, there is lamb ouzi served with oriental salad, lamb kofta, mussaka, stewed lamb with okra, Cappsy (spiced rice with chicken), spicy prawns sautéed with tomato and more.

Traditional Arabic dessert buffet offers Um Ali, cheese Kenafe, Warbat, Arabic rice pudding, among others Over 400 kilos of ingredients have been flown in from Dubai. The ambience will be according to the theme ‘Arabian Nights’. Hookah, ethnic table clothes, accessories are all flown in. Other events at Annapurna are Malaysian, Singaporean and Thai food festivals.
