KATHMANDU: The 10th annual Tuborg Image Award was held at the Tribhuwan Army Club on June 28. Veteran musicians, singers and artistes, actors, actresses and socialites graced the evening to honour the work of peers and enjoy music, magic and more.

After constant technical failures, the nominees of the 25 different categories were announced and well known personalities from various fields gave away the awards to the winners. Those gathered also got to experience musical gigs performed by various artistes. The show started with artistes performing Shanti lukau kaha which was very well received. So was Mingma Sherpa and Mausami Gurung’s Kanchi hey Kanchi, X Mantra featuring Ciney Gurung, Bhumo by Tsujil Karmacharya and Anil Shahi’s instrumental piece with his band.

The lifetime achievement award was given two legendry artistes of Nepali music industry

for their commitment and involvement in preserving and promoting Nepali music — veteran lyricist Kiran Kharel and singer Yogesh Baidya. Similarly Image National Personality of the Year, special award, was given to Dr Sanduk Ruit.

•Best song with national feeling: Shanti Lukau Kaha (Basanta Chaudhary, Nyoo Bajracharya and various artistes)

•Best vocal pop (male): Tsujil Karmacharya (Bhumo)

•Best vocal pop (female): Sashi Rawal (Chahana sakiyo)

•Best vocal Rock: Naren Limbu (Antim maya)

•Best vocal performance by a group: Neeipal band (Maile bolne)

•Best folk song: Kanchanjungha seerai ma (Ganesh Neupane)

•Best dohari song: Purbai ma jhyal rakhe (Purusottam and Radha Neupane)

•Best movie soundtrack: Timrai lagi from Darr (Suresh Adhikari)

•Best music video: Huncha malai bihan (Asif Shah,Music Nepal)

•Best music video director: Suresh Shrestha (Gajalu le)

•Best music video cameraman: Purshowtam Pradhan
