United States Embassy to host Cultural Mela in Lalitpur Saturday

KATHMANDU: The United States Embassy in Kathmandu is organising a Cultural Mela to celebrate the 70th anniversary of establishment of US-Nepal bilateral relations, as a part of its year-long series of events to commemorate the anniversary.

The cultural fiesta would be held at the ground of Nepal Administrative Staff College in Jawalakhel, Lalitpur on Saturday

The Mela would be held from 11 am to 5 pm and would feature live graffiti art, musical performances, break dances, skate boards stunts, and slam poetry, informed a statement by the Embassy today.

Popular US graffiti artist Gabriel Specter would be there along with popular Nepali bands and artists, according to the statement.

The Mela would also feature booths staffed by youth and social organisations providing information on democracy, elections, youth activism, and entrepreneurship, mentioned the release.

Nepal had started diplomatic relations with the USA on April 25, 1947.
