BAJURA, JULY 14

A 15-year-old girl has been struggling for life for want of treatment in Gaumul Rural Municipality, Bajura. Kranti Rokaya of Manakot has been deprived of treatment due to her poor financial condition.

She was sent home from various health facilities as her family could not afford her treatment. The girl has been suffering from cough and fever for the last five months.

Auxiliary Mid-wife Laxmi Bohora at Manakot Health Post said that medicines for tuberculosis were given after the doctors detected a spot in the lungs, but no TB-causing bacteria was detected in her saliva. Her father Bise Rokaya died 15 years ago when she was in her mother's womb.

Bise also had died for want of treatment. Her mother Kesu Rokaya tried her best to save her daughter. With tears in her eyes, Rokaya's mother said she had taken her daughter to different health facilities for treatment, but no one was ready to give her free treatment.

"I may lose my daughter also," she lamented.

ANM Bohara said that Kranti suffered from anaemia and swollen feet. Her weight is only 26 kg. She was brought back home even though Bayalpata Hospital said the minor had to be admitted for two months. Her mother said that she had requested all the authorities for support her daughter's treatment, but she did not get the expected help from anyone.
