Moderate rainfall likely in hilly and Tarai regions; heavy rain possible in Koshi and Gandaki hills
KATHMANDU, AUGUST 20
The Meteorological Department has forecast generally cloudy conditions across most provinces today and tonight, with chances of rainfall in several regions.
For Tuesday daytime, skies will remain generally cloudy in Lumbini, Karnali, Sudurpaschim provinces and hilly regions nationwide, while other areas will see partial cloud cover. Moderate rainfall is likely in Lumbini, Karnali, Sudurpaschim, and some hilly regions, with light showers possible in parts of the Tarai.
For tonight, conditions will be generally cloudy in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki provinces and hilly regions, and partly cloudy elsewhere. Moderate rain is expected in Tarai and hilly areas of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces. Heavy rainfall is possible at one or two locations in the hilly regions of Koshi and Gandaki.
According to meteorologists, the monsoon trough is currently positioned south of its normal location, making the monsoon slightly weaker over Nepal, though moist air from the Bay of Bengal continues to enter the region.
In Kathmandu, the weather will remain generally cloudy with rain, with daytime maximum temperatures between 29–31°C and nighttime minimum temperatures ranging 19–21°C. The valley is forecasted to have 60% chance of rain in the daytime and 40% chance of rain tonight.
