The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast heavy rainfall in various parts of the country today and tonight as monsoon conditions continue to dominate Nepal's weather.
According to the latest update, the monsoon trough remains close to its average position in the east and slightly north of average in the west, contributing to widespread cloudiness and rainfall activity across the country.
Partly to generally cloudy skies are expected nationwide. Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at several places in Bagmati, Gandaki, and Sudur Pashchim provinces, including hilly regions, and at a few places in other provinces. Heavy rainfall is possible at one or two locations in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces. Light snowfall or rain may occur in some high hilly and mountainous areas.
The weather will remain generally cloudy in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and partly cloudy elsewhere. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is expected at several places in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki, and at isolated spots elsewhere. There are chances of heavy rainfall at one or two places in Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces. Light snowfall or rain may persist in high mountainous regions.
The capital is likely to remain generally cloudy with rain or thundershowers throughout the day, with a 60% chance of rainfall continuing into the night, according to the MFD.
Authorities have urged residents, especially in vulnerable hilly and mountainous areas, to stay alert for possible flash floods, landslides, and disruption of daily activities due to intense rainfall.
