Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning has been forecast for parts of Koshi and Lumbini provinces and the hilly regions of the country, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
Today, weather will remain partly to generally cloudy in Koshi and Lumbini provinces as well as hilly areas, while other regions will see mainly fair to partly cloudy skies. There is a chance of light snowfall at one or two locations in high mountainous areas.
Tonight, partly to generally cloudy conditions are expected in Koshi, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces and the hilly regions, with scattered rainfall likely in these areas. Light snowfall may occur at a few high-altitude locations in Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces.
In Kathmandu Valley, skies will be partly cloudy this afternoon with a 20% chance of brief rain or thundershowers. Tonight, the valley is expected to remain partly cloudy with no rain forecast.
Current weather patterns are being influenced by local and westerly winds in western and central Nepal, while monsoon winds are affecting most areas of Koshi Province, the MFD said.
