Nepal is set for another wet monsoon day, but parts of the western Tarai could still see temperatures climb as high as 37°C, with Dhangadhi forecast to be the hottest among major cities.
The Meteorological Forecasting Division said moderate rainfall is likely at many places in the hilly regions, while several areas of the Tarai are also expected to receive rain. Heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in the Himalayan and hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, the hilly region of Karnali, and the hilly and Tarai regions of Lumbini Province.
Dhangadhi is forecast to reach 35–37°C, while Dipayal, Nepalgunj, Bhairahawa, Simara and Janakpur could record maximum temperatures of 34–36°C.
Kathmandu is expected to remain relatively cooler, with temperatures ranging from 28–30°C and a 70% chance of rain. Pokhara also has a 70% probability of rain, with temperatures expected to reach 27–29°C.
Rain is expected to continue into the night, with heavy rainfall possible at one or two places in the hilly and Tarai regions of Koshi, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, as well as parts of Bagmati, Karnali and Sudurpashchim.
The entire country remains under the influence of the monsoon winds, while the monsoon trough is currently located around its average position.
