KATHMANDU, AUGUST 13
The Ministry of Health and Population has initiated measures to prevent and control the spread of cholera and dengue as infections continue to rise across various parts of the country.
In response to the increasing number of dengue and cholera cases, Health and Population Minister Pradip Paudel directed the relevant authorities to implement effective measures immediately.
Following Minister Paudel's directive, the Ministry promptly advanced both short-term and long-term strategies.
According to the Ministry, Rapid Response Teams, led by the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division, have been deployed to dengue and cholera-affected areas. These teams are collaborating with provincial and local authorities to contain the outbreak.
The teams are actively identifying individuals who have been in direct contact with infected patients and monitoring their symptoms, which is crucial for controlling the spread of cholera, the Ministry added.
Minister Paudel's Secretariat reported that discussions were held with relevant local bodies to improve the quality of drinking water as part of efforts to control waterborne diseases.
The Ministry has also outlined a plan to enhance food quality monitoring at the central, provincial, and local levels to prevent further issues in the coming days. Additionally, preparations are underway to implement the National Cholera Control/Prevention Plan 2024-2030.
