KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 13

The Ministry of Health and Population has directed all health institutions to align salaries, services, and facilities for health workers with government standards.

According to Ministry spokesperson Dr. Prakash Budhathoki, a circular has been issued to government hospitals, medical colleges, community hospitals, and private institutions to ensure equal pay and incentives for nurses and health workers as prescribed by the government.

The Ministry reissued the directive after finding that several hospitals had failed to comply. The move comes amid protests by nurses at Pokhara-based Manipal Teaching Hospital demanding government-standard salaries.

Hospitals have also been instructed to provide additional allowances for overtime work, refrain from retaining employees' original educational certificates, avoid hiring on daily wages, and ensure salary payments through the banking system.
