KATHMANDU, JUNE 25
The Ministry of Health and Population has assured the public that Nepal has sufficient stocks of anti-rabies vaccines and that additional supplies are expected in the coming days.
According to the ministry, a total of 10,011 vials of anti-rabies vaccine are currently available at central, provincial and district-level hospitals across the country.
Ministry spokesperson Dr Samir Kumar Adhikari said 2,500 vials of anti-rabies vaccine have already been received with support from the World Health Organization (WHO), while an additional 4,500 vials are expected to arrive shortly.
The ministry said it has been coordinating with relevant agencies to ensure the uninterrupted continuation of rabies prevention and treatment services nationwide. Local governments have also been urged to facilitate the management of dog and other animal bite cases and ensure timely vaccination services.
Dr Adhikari said the ministry is continuously monitoring vaccine distribution and stock management to prevent shortages and maintain regular services.
He added that Shukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital currently has enough anti-rabies vaccine stock to meet demand for approximately 40 days.
The ministry expressed confidence that vaccine supplies would return to a fully regular schedule once the Department of Health Services completes its ongoing procurement process.
