1 killed, 2 seriously injured as motorbike garage catches fire in Tripureshwor

KATHMANDU: A person died on the spot, two others sustained serious injuries after a motorbike garage caught fire at Tripureshwor in Kathmandu, this evening.

Speaking to THT Online over the phone, police official at the Metropolitan Police Circle Kalimati confirmed the incident.

He further said a a bike workshop near the Jayanti Oil Store in the area caught fire after an electric short circuit around 6:20 pm. Property worth around Rs 4 million have been gutted in fire.

Police have identified the deceased as 20-year-old Muliyan Miya of Kaliya Municipality-3 in Bara district. The body has been sent to the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital for a autopsy.

Similarly, Muslim Miya (25) and Ajit Ansari (12) of Kaliya Municipality in Bara district were injured in the incident. It has been learned that the trio were employed at the Alam Mechanical Workshop.

The injured duo have been rushed to Bir Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, fire engines, police personnel along with the local have contained the inferno, according to police official.
