1 killed, 4 seriously injured in gas cylinder blast at Tokha

KATHMANDU: One woman was killed and four others sustained injuries after a gas cylinder went off at Deep Jyoti in Tokha Municipality-9, on the northern outskirt of Kathmandu, this afternoon, police said.

Police identified the deceased as Kali Tamang (32) of Nuwakot district.

According to Police Inspector Mohan Bikram KC, Tamang succumbed to her injuries at the Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj around 2 pm.

He further said the other four injured have been referred to Balkhu-based Vayodha Hospital for further treatment.

The gas cylinder exploded at the Peace Nepal Handicraft injuring all the workers in the factory around 11:30 am. However, cause of the explosion is yet to be ascertained, Inspector KC shared.
