19,361 more police postings

KATHMANDU: Nepal Police said the security body was doing groundwork to create 19,361 more postings for police employees to bring it to the federal setup. Currently, the total strength of police force is 72,729.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has already deployed seven additional inspector generals to as many provinces to take charge of the Federal Police Office.

DIG Pushkar Karki said the existing five regional police offices were transformed into FPO, considering the transitional phase of running NP as per the federal set-up at a time when the Federal Police Act has yet to be created. Since Provinces 2 and 5 did not have regional police offices, the process of establishing FPO is on. Similarly, the existing zonal police offices have been renamed as federal police unit office.
