57 Tibetan refugees arrested, released
Kathmandu, March 31:
Police today afternoon detained some 57 Tibetan refugees, who were protesting against China’s crackdown in Lhasa, from the Visa Section of the Chinese Embassy at Hattisar.
However, the police released all those arrested refugees after a few hours.
Two persons, including a policeman, were hurt when refugees tried to resist the police action. Tibetan refugees, including 14 nuns, were kept at Police battalion no 2, Maharajgunj, and were released in the evening.
Tibetan refugees have taken to streets in Kathmandu since March 10 protesting against the killing of Tibetan demonstrators in Lhasa, capital of the Tibetan Autonomous Region.
