5th international conference on nutrition kicks off

KATHMANDU: The fifth international conference on nutrition has kicked off in the capital today. The four-day international conference is being organized for the first time in Nepal in South Asia.

Such an internationalĀ conference is being organized every two years.

The countries which are the part of the campaign for addressing the scourge of malnutrition have given high premium to this event. High-level delegates representing different countries had already arrived Kathmandu on Sunday to participate in the conference.

As many as 1,200 participants from 80 countries, including Nepal are taking part in the conference coordinated by the National Planning Commission.

The conference is being attended by high-level political leadership, policy makers, representatives from Civil Society Organisations and nutrition experts.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to inaugurate the conference amidst a function this evening.

It is noted that 25 separate workshops around the subject matterĀ of nutrition will be organised during the conference.
