6 cops hurt in blast

Six Armed Police Force (APF) personnel, including an inspector, were injured when the vehicle they were travelling in blasted in an electric ambush at Aathmail of Nuwakot district this evening. The APF van was returning to the headquarters after dropping trainees at Kakani, according to Rabiraj Thapa, additional inspector general of APF.

The APF truck with plate number Ba 1 Ga 1662 fell to the five-feet deep electric appliance while it was giving side to another private truck with registration number Ba 4 Cha.

The injured police personnel have been admitted at the Birendra Army Hospital, Chhauni. The incident occurred at 5:20 pm. There were sixteen police personnel in the van. However, only six including inspector Dil Bahadur Gurung, driver Kul Prasad Bharati, head constables Dileep KC, Keshav Dahal, Ram Bahadur Shrestha and APF constable Dhirendra Oli were injured.

Security forces sealed off the area immediately after the incident. Police team from the Balaju Area Police Office and the Valley Crime Investigation Branch, Hanumandhoka, reached the site after an hour.
