Absconding fraud convict nabbed
KATHMANDU: Police on Sunday arrested a man who was absconding after being convicted of fraud, from Chabahil of Kathmandu.
Ram Gurung (36), a permanent resident of Hasposa-2 of Sunsari district, currently residing in Chabahil, KMC-7, was arrested by a team deployed from the Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police yesterday.
The Foreign Employment Tribunal on December 6 last year had convicted him in a fraud case related to foreign employment and sentenced to 1.5 years in prison along with Rs 150,000 fine.
The Tribunal had observed that he had swindled Rohit Giri of Rs 170,000 assuring him of a lucrative job in Dubai around two years ago.
Meanwhile, police produced the convict at the Kathmandu District Court today for execution of the verdict.
The Court sent him to the Central Jail, Sundhara.
