Absconding murder suspect held

KATHMANDU: Police on Thursday arrested an absconding person for his alleged involvment in murder and in an arms and ammunition cases from Basantanagar of Manamaiju, Kathmandu.

The arrestee has been identified as Biraj Tamang (26) aka Nakkale of Dhanidhawa, Kalyanpur VDC-7 in Nuwakot district and currently residing at Shanti Tole in Manamaiju.

During the interrogration, Tamang said that he had concealed a pistol and bullets in his house in Nuwakot.

Following his information, a police team deployed from a local police post reached Tamang's house and confiscated a CZE Choslavakia-made pistol, a magazine and three rounds of bullets used for the pistol.

Police informed that Tamang had been absconding after opening fire at Anil Shrestha of Bidur, Nuwakot, seven years ago.

Tamang had hurled a socket bomb at a police team in Bidur-10, Nuwakot on May 28, 2014.

Police further informed that he had attacked Dol Bahadur Ghale of Bidur-4, Nuwakot with a khukuri on January 8, 2015.

Tamang has been sent to the District Police Office, Nuwakot for further investigation.
