KATHMANDU, MAY 10

Kathmandu Valley witnessed as many as 3,607 fresh coronavirus infections on Monday.

The capital city recorded 2,775 cases, Lalitpur 505, and Bhaktapur 327 cases today.

Today's total cases in the valley account for 39.52 per cent of the nationwide infections. As many as 9,127 intraday cases were recorded today across the country.

Kathmandu continues to be the district with highest number of infections logged in 24 hours. Similarly, Rupandehi is second in line with 530 infections, while Lalitpur stands third.

Total number of active cases in Kathmandu is 29,071 as of today, which in Lalitpur is 6,280, and in Bhaktapur is 4,112. Kathmandu has recorded 147,762 total infections until today. The same in Lalitpur is 24,796 and in Bhaktapur is 14,457.

The valley recorded as many as 54 Covid-related fatalities today -- 37 in Kathmandu, 13 in Lalitpur, four in Bhaktapur.The total number of deaths in Kathmandu till date is 863, that in Lalitpur is 247, and in Bhaktapur is 176.

The country itself recorded a total of 139 Covid-related fatalities today, which totals to 3,859 deaths till date. The death rate (total deaths by total positive cases) as of today is 0.96 per cent.

As many as 29 districts host active cases above 500 -- Morang, Sunsari, Jhapa, Dhanusha, Parsa, Mahottari, Bara, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Chitwan, Kavrepanlanchowk, Makawanpur, Dhading, Nuwakot, Kaski, Gorkha, Nawalparasi (East), Dang, Banke, Rupandehi, Palpa, Bardiya, Kapilvastu, Nawalparasi (West), Surkhet, Kailali, Kanchanur and Baitadi.

Likewise, 17 districts have over 200 active cases. They are Rautahat, Sarlahi, Siraha, Saptari, Sindhupalchowk, Sindhuli, Ramechhap, Parbat, Tanahun, Myagdi, Syangja, Arghakhanchi, Gulmi, Dailekh, Dadheldhura, Doti and Achham.
