Agitation programmes to protest Constitution amendment bill
KATHMANDU: StudentĀ and youth unions close to the opposition parties have announced further agitation programmes against the Constitution amendment bill.
The unions held a press conference at the Youth Association Nepal office today to announce the protest programmes from Friday to Monday.
Speaking at the programme, the All Nepal National Free Students Union Chairperson Nabina Lama said the unions would stage a demonstration of athletes at Naya Baneshwor on Friday, submit a memorandum at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs demanding an end to foreign intervention on Saturday; hold a race rally from Maitighar to Naya Baneshwor on Sunday and a street debate on Monday.
She argued that the amendment would disintegrate the country and said the agitation was being launched for making Nepal independent and sovereign.
The Youth Association Chairman Rajiv Pahari warned that the amendment would harm the national integrity of Nepal. He added that the agitation would continue until the amendment bill was withdrawn.
At the programme, Nepal Revolutionary Students Association Chairman, Niroj Lawoju, demanded the withdrawal of the amendment bill as it could disrupt the existing harmony in the society.
