Airfare discount for disabled lauded
Kathmandu, February 15:
Hailing the provision made by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) to provide 50 per cent discount in an air ticket to a disabled person in each flight, the National Federation of the Disabled-Nepal has called on the MoCTCA to come up with directives to make the provision sustainable.
The MoCTCA came up with the provision for the disabled with an identity card holder as per the criteria defined by the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare. The provision takes effect with the hike in the price of air tickets, which takes effect from Friday (February 17).
Issuing a press release today, the NFDN also demanded that the MoCTCA form a working committee with the representation of the Royal Nepal Airlines Corporation, Private Airlines Service Operators and the NFDN to draft the directives and recommend the same to
the MoCTCA.
The stakeholders should be given orientation on disability and make sure they benefit from the provision, it said.
