Aussie education aid

Kathmandu, June 5:

The Australian Government’s International Aid Agency (AusAID) said today it will provide Rs 799 million to upgrade basic education and emergency preparedness here. Australian ambassador Graeme Lade and chief of the Foreign Aid Coordination Division of the Ministry of Finance Krishna Gyawali signed an agreement to this effect, a press statement said. Of the total grant, Rs 650 million is meant for Education for All programme. The remaining sum of Rs 149 million will be allocated to strengthen the peace process and emergency preparedness.

The funds will be mobilised through Save the Children Alliance, UNDP, UNICEF, WFP and WHO.
