Babuchhiri award for THT lensman
Kathmandu, May 24:
Reporters’ Club today honoured the chief photographer of The Himalayan Times, Rajesh Gurung, with the Babuchhiri Photojournalism Award.
Indian Ambassador Shiv Shankar Mukherjee gave away the award to Gurung amidst a function here. The award carries a purse of Rs 25,000 and a letter of appreciation.
The Martyr Jagat Prasad Jung Best Youth Journalist Award was given away to Bhusan Dahal of Kantipur Television, while the Best Youth Photojournalism Award went to Ramesh Chhetri of Gorkahpatra daily. The awards carries a purse of Rs 15,000 each and letters of appreciation.
Kami Sherpa, who scaled Mt Everest this year, was also felicitated.
Journalists Sita Ram Agrahari of Gorkahpatra daily, Ram Sharan Karki of Radio Nepal and Suraj Acharya of Image Channel were also felicitated for their contribution to journalism.
Addressing the function, Mukherjee said, “It has been proved that Nepali journalists can work fearlessly.” “Nepal is safe in the hands of its people.”
Reporters’ Club president Rishi Dhamala said Nepali media will always fight for democracy.
