Two outstanding intellectuals in their respective field, Akkal Man Nakarmi and Shiva Prasad Dhaubadel were awarded this year’s Dr Balaram Joshi Gyan Bigyan Rastriya Puraskar in a function here today.Nakarmi 54, an expert technician has significantly contributed in the field of small hydropower development in Nepal whereas Dhaubadel 70, was honoured for his outstanding contribution in the field of education. The award was initiated in 1996 and used to honour the outstanding personalities who had contributed to the nation in Science and Knowledge and also qualified experts/teachers.At her welcome speech, the founder president of the Academy, Angur Baba Joshi said that she was delighted to award the personalities serving the nation impatiently for long time as the wish of her departed spouse Balaram Joshi who was himself a renowned scientist of the country.Chief guest Keshar Jung Rayamajhi, Chairman of the Rajsabha standing committee said that science should be used to qualitative development rather than destruction.
