Bangladesh Speaker meets President, Prime Minister

KATHMANDU: The Speaker of Bangladesh Parliament, Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, on Thursday called on President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal separately.

Chaudhury, who is on a state visit to Nepal, accompanied by the Bangladeshi Ambassador to Nepal Mashfee Binte Shams met the President at the Sheetal Niwas.

They had a friendly talk about the relationship between the two countries, according to a statement issued by the President's Office.

The Speaker also met the Prime Minister at his residence in Baluwatar and said that the peace process and the resultant Constitution of Nepal were exemplary to the world.

The Constitution of Nepal has empowered women by granting more rights, said the visiting leader.

Elated to meet the Speaker Chaudhury in Nepal, the Prime Minister Dahal recalled that Nepal and Bangladesh enjoyed diplomatic ties since 1972 and the relationship had always been warm, the PM's Secretariat informed.
