Bhaktapur truck hit kills two bike riders

BHAKTAPUR: A minitruck hit two motorbikes simultaneously in Sallaghari of Bhaktapur district on Friday, killing riders of both two-wheelers.

Police said the minitruck (Ba 2 Kha 9721) had hit two bikes--Ba 43 Pa 4576 and Ba 14 Pa 5288-- in front of the Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya in local Sallaghari.

Their riders--Saroj Baniya (45) and Anil Krishna Tamrakar (44), both from Kalimati of Kathmandu--had died on the spot.

The minitruck was heading towards local Dudhpati while the bikes were heading to Kathmandu.

Sagan Nagarkoti (31) from Changunarayan was driving the vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

Police nabbed him for further investigation, according to the Bhaktapur-based Metropolitan Police Range.
