Bill Committee endorses Education Regulation 2073

Kathmandu, June 2

The Bill Committee of the Council of Ministers today endorsed the Education Regulation 2073, almost a year after the enforcement of Education Act (Eighth Amendment) 2073.

“Due to the delay in approving the regulation, there had been confusion in the education sector. The passing of the regulation is expected to usher in a new era in the country’s education sector,” said Education Minister Dhaniram Paudel.

Minister Paudel informed that the regulation was approved incorporating suggestions and feedback provided by a technical committee comprising joint secretaries from the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development and the Ministry of Finance.

The regulation clearly mentions the rights and duties of National Education Board for management, coordination, operation and arrangement of Secondary Education Examinations.

It has also stated that the National Education Council will have the advisory role to the government.

The regulation has a provision for Village or  Municipal Education Committee, with supervision, coordination and management of schools in village and rural areas being its major tasks.
