KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 24
A British national was taken into custody on the charge of possessing US dollars exceeding the allowed limit, from Tribhuvan International (TIA) on Tuesday.
The arrestee, who had in his possession USD ($) 23,310, has been identified as Neil William Greenwood, aged 51, holding a passport of the United Kingdom.
According to police, Greenwood was arrested by the airport security personnel after finding 263 notes of denomination $100 and 10 notes of denomination $1, hidden inside his handbag when he was going through the security check at the departure section's hand baggage checking point, at TIA's international terminal.
He was flying to London on Kathmandu-Doha-London route of Qatar Airways.
Police also seized NRs 7,000 from his possession.
Greenwood has been handed over to the Department of Revenue Investigation (RID), Pulchowk in Lalitpur for further investigation, the TIA security office informed.
