Kathmandu, May 6 :

The families of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country, those who were injured and those who contributed to the success of the historic people’s pro-democracy mass movement are being felicitated all over the country.

In similar vein, the people of Buddhanagar, one of the hotspots of the 19-day mass movement, organised a programme to felicitate various individuals of their locality for their contributions to the success of the historic people’s movement.

The programme was organised by the Janandolan Mobilisation Coordination Committee.

Those injured as well as those arrested during the people’s movement, media professionals who disseminated objective information and those who helped protect human rights at the time were also give due accolade during the programme.

The people of Buddhanagar have raised Rs 1.87 lakh for the treatment of those injured in the movement — who are now being treated at the Tribhuvan University Teaching hospital.

Addressing the gathering, General Secretary of CPN-UML Madhav Kumar Nepal said the new government and the reinstated House of Representatives should act according to the wishes of common people.
