Bank posts Rs 4.7 billion operating profit in FY 2081/82

KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 16

Standard Chartered Bank Nepal Limited (SCBNL) held its 39th Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Kathmandu on Monday, endorsing its financial statements and announcing a 19 percent cash dividend for shareholders.

The AGM, chaired by Venugopal Ranganathan, reviewed the bank's performance for the fiscal year 2081/82, during which SCBNL recorded an operating profit of Rs 4.7 billion and an underlying profit after tax of Rs 3 billion. The bank's return on equity stood at 14.3 percent, while earnings per share were recorded at Rs 30.

Addressing shareholders, Chairperson Ranganathan thanked investors, regulators, clients, and employees for their continued support, reiterating the bank's commitment to driving commerce and prosperity in Nepal. He said the dividend reflected the bank's stable payout trend over the past three years.

Standard Chartered Group holds 70.21 percent of the bank's shares, while the general public owns 29.79 percent. SCBNL remains the only international bank operating in Nepal.
