Bus accident kills one; DSP stoned

Kathmandu, November 13:

One 35-year-old Druba Gautam of Kavre was killed today morning when a bus rammed onto him at old Buspark, police said.

“Gautam was trying to get off from the bus belonging to Araniko Yatayat before he fell down and suddenly the bus ran over him,” the police said.

The Metropolitan Police Traffic Division has taken bus driver Goivnda Thapa and the bus under control. Following the mishap, traffic was disrupted for few hours after people took to the streets, demanding compensation for the family of the victim.

Meanwhile, DSP Bikash Khanal was injured when demonstrators today pelted stones at him in Maharajgunj.

A group of drivers were protesting demanding investigation and compensation to the family of Bhuwan Bahadur Kuswar, who was killed by a motorcyclist on Saturday at Sukedhara.

“The protesters hurled stones at me when I asked them to stop disrupting the traffic and help me in identifying the motorcyclist,” Khanal said, the police have launched a manhunt to nab the motorcyclist who is on the run.
