CA to allocate 15 days to prepare constitution's draft

KATHMANDU: The Constituent Assembly will allocate 15 days to its Constitution Drafting Draft Committee to prepare the draft of the new constitution.

As per the 16-point agreement that the major political forces forged on Monday regarding the resolution of contentious issues of new constitution, the Constitutional Political Dialogue and Consensus Committee will present an integrated draft of the constitution to the CA.

The draft will be prepared by the Constitution Drafting Committee which would have a time of 15 days for so, CA Chairman Subash Nembang said, while talking to media persons at his office on Tuesday.

The CA chairman said he has already informed top leaders of major political parties about the time the Drafting Committee is getting to complete the task.

Nembang has already held discussions about the CA's further planning with Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala, senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula, CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, leaders Jhala Nath Khanal and Madhav Kumar Nepal, UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, leader Dr Baburam Bhattarai and Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Nepal-Democratic Chairman Bijay Kumar Gachhadar.

 Summer session likely after June 25

Meanwhile, the Parliament Secretariat has started preparations for the summer session also known as budget session within this month. The session is yet to be summoned.

The government has planned to call the summer session sharply after the donors' meet scheduled to be held on June 25.

Speaker Subash Chandra Nembang was learnt to have already consulted with the Prime Minister regarding the new session.
