Cabinet expansion likely on Thursday

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is planning to expand the Cabinet on Thursday.

Emerging from the Parliament meeting on Wednesday afternoon, Oli said the existing nine-member Cabinet would be expanded tomorrow by incorporating leaders from CPN-UML and UCPN-Maoist parties.

The Maoist party held a standing committee meeting today to pick its representatives to the government, but failed.

The committee is scheduled to resume the meeting tomorrow morning.

The UML is also busy in intra-party consultations.

Meanwhile, the parties are also holding discussions on their candidates for President, Vice-President, Speaker and Deputy Speaker elections.

Elections for Speaker and Deputy Speaker are scheduled for Friday.
