Canadian national Penner returns home

KATHMANDU: Canadian citizen Robert Penner, whose work visa was revoked by the Department of Immigration on Tuesday, left for his home country on Thursday.

Penner, who was arrested on Monday on charges of trying to undermine the

sovereignty and integrity of the country and jeopardise social harmony through provocative messages on social networking sites, was given two days to leave the country.

He had moved the Supreme Court yesterday against DoI’s decision to revoke his visa. The apex court had scheduled the first hearing on the case for Thursday but could not do so due to lack of time, said Assistant Spokesperson of the SuC Bishwa Raj

Paudel.
