KATHMANDU, JULY 9
The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has arrested three individuals in connection with the alleged Bal Mandir land lease irregularities in Naxal.
Senior Superintendent of Police Anupam Shumsher JBR confirmed the arrests, saying the suspects are being investigated on fraud-related charges. Their identities have not been disclosed as the investigation is ongoing.
Police are preparing to present the suspects before the court to seek remand for further investigation.
The Bal Mandir land controversy centres on allegations that land belonging to the Nepal Children's Organisation was repeatedly leased at below-market rates between 1992 and 2015, causing significant financial losses to the organisation.
The CIB had earlier filed a case against 17 individuals in the same case, seeking recovery of Rs 603.98 million in alleged losses.
