Cops claim success in crime control

The Lalitpur police arrested a total of 15 persons allegedly involved in more than two dozen crimes that took place in different parts of the district in the last one month. Lokendra Shrestha, inspector at the Lalitpur sub-branch of the Valley Crime Investigation Branch (VCIB), claimed they had been successful in arresting most of the culprits. He said the arrest of Hem Rai of Dhankuta and Manjil Gurung of Parsa on April 25 on charges of looting brought an end to looting incidents in the area. On April 25, police arrested Suklal Tamang, 21, of Ramechhap on the charge of killing his wife. Police arrested Santosh Maharjan and Simon Tamang on April 23 from Sanepa for allegedly stealing a motorcycle.
One Suman Karki was caught on April 24 from Naxal with a gold necklace of Rosy Shakya of Jawalakhel. Sunita Bhattarai, 26, was arrested on April 11 on charges of trafficking Priya Lama to a brothel in Mumbai, India. Police are yet to apprehend others involved in the incident. Police nabbed Man Bahadur Tamang, Yam Bahadur Tamang and Roshan Bhujel of Dolakha district for beating up Tara Karki to death at Balkhu on April 14. Murari Rijal of Dhading, Madhav Giri of Nawalparasi and Manoj Chaudhary of Kumaripati, were arrested on charges of cheating SLC students.
