KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 13

Co-chair of the Dahal-Nepal faction of Nepal Communist Party (NCP), Pushpa Kamal Dahal, said that the nation faces a risk of losing the federal democratic republic system, constitution, and inclusion.

Dahal shared this during the book launch programme for 'Jivangatha' that showcases the trials and tribulations of families living with injuries, and with members who went missing in the armed insurgency.

"When I became the first prime minister of the federal democratic republic of Nepal, the first decision of the Cabinet was to announce all those who lost their lives in the armed insurgency and subsequent movements, as martyrs," he reminded. The achievements made so far are the results of the sacrifice made by the martyrs, Dahal stressed.

Dahal urged everyone not to belittle the integration of the then Maoist fighters into the Nepal Army and in the process of constitution writing following the peace process.

During the event, he also assured that the party would duly recognise the role of Tharu people who were involved in the people's war, people's movement, and country building.

Mayor of Barbardiya Municipality, Durga Bahadur Tharu, however, blamed that the State did not recognize the people from Bardiya district who became martyrs in the people's war. Bardiya district recorded highest number of people to disappear during the time from 2052 BS to 2062 BS.

It has been edited by rights defenders and writers Sushil Chaudhary, Prabhuram Tharu and Man Bahadur Chaudhary. The book has captured the life story 580 people including martyrs, those made disappeared, and injured in the insurgency. The book was published by Barbardiya Municipality.
