Deceased’s kin vent ire on docs
Kathmandu, July 22:
Nepal Medical College and Teaching Hospital remained tense today after 36-year-old Binda Pandey died while undergoing treatment in the hospital.
Pandey, a resident of Jhapa, died of malaria falciparum — a rare disease — early this morning. Her kin accused the doctors of negligence while treating her. She was admitted to the hospital a week ago.
“Had the doctors been more careful in the treatment, she would not have died,” Prem Pandey, one of her relatives, alleged.
However, Dr Pramila Pradhan, professor of obstetrics and gynaecology, said, “We tried our best to cure her. She was suffering from a rare malarial disease that led to multiple organ failure.”
Later, doctors pacified the relatives of the deceased and the situation returned to normal.
