Deechit claims ‘highest marks’ in SLC

KATHMANDU: Deechit Poudel from mid-Baneshwor-based Valley View English School on Friday claimed he scored the ‘highest percentage’ in the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) exam-2014. Poudel with symbol number ‘0301149 Q’ has scored 94 per cent (752 marks out of 800) in the exam. He scored 95 out of 100 marks in compulsory English, 86 in compulsory Nepali, 98 in compulsory Mathematics, 98 in compulsory Science, 83 in compulsory social studies, 93 in compulsory Health, Population and Environment Education, 99 in optional Mathematics and 100 in optional Computer Science.

Ward secy arrested

KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority on Friday arrested Raj Kumar Thapa, a joint ward Secretary of Budhanilakantha Municipality wards 4, 5 and 6. He was arrested on the charge of receiving bribe from a service-seeker. According to the anti-graft constitutional body, Thapa had demanded and received Rs 30,000 from the undisclosed service-seeker. He had promised the service-seeker to waive the land tax for him in return of the bribe.
