Deuba stresses establishment of int'l science research lab
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has stressed the need for establishing an international level science research laboratory in the country.
In the circumstance that human resources produced within the country were doing excellent in international laboratories, Deuba said that the government would do its best in establishing an international level science research laboratory inside the country.
"Whatever the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology is doing with resources and personnel at its disposal are satisfactory. But we have a long way to go in this regard," he said while addressing the 40th Academic Assembly of the NAST in the Capital today.
"There is a need for improvements in science and technology for the holistic development of the country. So the NAST will have to play an important role to this effect," added Deuba, who is also the Chancellor of NAST.
The Prime Minister also emphasised the need for conducting research and using country's medicinal herbs to produce medicines within the country.
Meanwhile, the Council passed a budget worth more than Rs 250 million for the fiscal year 2017/18.
