Disabled on SAARC tour

A differently-abled man from Jhapa is scheduled to begin his one-year tour of the SAARC nations on a wheelchair beginning February 22. Amar Rai had earlier planned to start his journey on February 12. Rai wants to spread the message of peace in South Asia. “I want to set an example that physically handicapped are also capable of higher achievements.” He said the Ministry of Education has provided him Rs 1 lakh and Tulsi Meher Guthi Sansthan has donated Rs 7,000. Lok Nath Siwakoti will accompany him. The 26-year-old had travelled from Mechi to Mahakali in 2003.
