DNYF to safeguard candidates, voters

Kathmandu, September 9:

The Democratic National Youth Federation (DNYF), the youth organisation of the CPN-UML, has decided to implement the ‘One Booth, Hundred Youth’ policy for the security of candidates, voters and ballot boxes during the Constituent Assembly (CA) polls.

“Our trained cadres would provide security to the candidates, voters and booths in the CA polls,” said Ajambar Rai Kangmang, president of the DNYF, adding a 553-member central CA poll support committee and similar committees would be formed at districts and at the level of VDCs.

Addressing a press conference organised here today to publicise the decision, Rai said the DNYF will organise a national meet of its cadres for two days beginning September 25 for campaigning for the CA polls.

Earlier, the meeting of the DNYF had decided to suggest the party for including education, health and employment as the fundamental rights of the people, voting rights to all the people of 16 and above, formation of a strong youth ministry, youth parliament, youth

commission and employment information and promotion centre during its meeting on Saturday and Sunday.

The DNYF also demanded the CPN-Maoist to withdraw its 22-point charter of demands and the struggle plan condemning their “inhumane activities” in various districts. Rai also said all the parties should further strengthen unity for making the CA polls a success.
