DPM Mahara directs for reformation at TIA Customs Office

KATHMANDU:  Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Krishna Bahadur Mahara has directed the Department of Customs to reform the Tribhuvan International Airport Customs Office even if it needed to change its entire human resources.

Mahara held a meeting with the Department's Director General Shishir Kumar Dhungana to reform the TIA Customs Office at the Ministry on Thursday and instructed the same, informed Mahara's media expert Tribhuvan Paudel.

Suspecting that the staff were promoting corruption by being in same positions for a long time, Mahara said that any employee should not be kept in the same post for more than a year.

Mahara further directed the Department to make the customs system effective, transparent and well-equipped to end all kinds of corruption.

Meanwhile, Dhungana informed that action had already been started to the current staff in the relation with the January 5 gold smuggling case.
