Editors in solidarity with Dr KC

KATHMANDU: Editors of leading daily newspapers and online portals on Sunday have expressed concern about the protracted fast-unto-death being staged by Dr Govinda KC.

A statement issued by the editors reads that Dr KC was forced to stage hunger strike for the 15th time due to the failure of the previous governments led by all major political parties to implement the agreements reached with the senior orthopaedic surgeon at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital.

"The repeated fast-unto-death and this time's protracted hunger strike have put his life at risk. We express our solidarity with Dr KC's peaceful movement and urge the concerned authorities to address the demands raised by him," reads the press release.

The signatories in the appeal are Amit Dhakal, Krishna Jwala Devkota, Govinda Adhikari, Narayan Wagle, Kiran Nepal, Rajesh KC, Prateek Pradhan, Sudhir Sharma, Subash Ghimire, Gunaraj Luintel, Akhilesh Upadhyay, Rajaram Gautam, Prakash Rimal and Prashant Aryal.

Earlier, they visited Dr KC at the TU Teaching Hospital.
